Graduated from the University of Chile with a law degree and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of California, Berkeley.

With over three decades of experience, Ricardo Escobar is a leading figure in tax law, fiscal policy, and regulation in Chile. He has participated in the design of public policies and legislation related to concessions, capital markets, domestic taxation, and international taxation.

In the public sector, Ricardo served as Director of the Chilean Internal Revenue Service, advisor to the Government of Paraguay (IDB Program for Tax Reform), Representative of the Chilean Minister of Finance to the OECD Committee on Fiscal Affairs, and participated in negotiations of double taxation treaties and investment protection agreements.

In the private sector, Ricardo was a partner at Carey & Co. Before co-founding Bofill Escobar, he was a partner at Ernst & Young, in charge of Tax Policy for the Americas, and a partner in Tax Policy for the mining industry globally.

Ricardo was a member of the Permanent Scientific Committee of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and an advisor to the Chilean Bar Association.

Ricardo is a professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Chile, where he lectures in Tax Law and Introduction to Micro and Macroeconomics, and a visiting professor at the University of Miami in the LLM program, as part of the seminar “Taxation in Latin America.”
